What happened? No-one knows. At about 8:00 last night, all blackberry data functions died (data functions = E-mail, the Net, IM ets.). RIM seems to have no explanation for this occurrence, other than that they're trying to get it fixed. Listening to the CBC on the way home today, I heard that the following could be the culprits, in some way or form:
- Insane amounts of Spam
- Backup Systems failing (this is a certainty)
- All data going through Waterloo, and a physical system crash there,
- Or, RIM wanted to shake it's customers into getting backup BBs.
Most BlackBerries were back up at 6 this morning.
